ThereKit

Privacy notice

What ThereKit keeps on your device and which network services it uses.

Effective 8 October 2026

Information kept on your device

ThereKit stores your entered amounts, phrase searches, favorites, trip choices and profiles, settings, manual rates, and saved reference rates on your device. ThereKit does not require an account. The developer does not receive your entered amounts, phrase text, favorites, trip choices, or the text you translate.

The app has no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no in-app purchase. Translation runs on the device. No cloud artificial-intelligence service receives your text. Phrase text and audio are bundled with the app. ThereKit does not request access to your precise location, contacts, microphone, camera, or photos. It can read device locale, measurement, time-zone, and clock settings to suggest local defaults and show times.

Translate

Translate processes the text you type or paste, and its translations, on your device. ThereKit does not save the text you enter in Translate. The app never sends the text you translate. Translation speech uses an on-device system voice. The optional local translation model is stored on your device and is excluded from device backups.

Network services

Exchange rates

ThereKit requests a fixed USD-based exchange-rate table from Frankfurter. The request does not include entered amounts, selected trips, or phrase activity. As with any internet request, the service receives network information such as an IP address.

Translation downloads

Translate uses the network only for downloads that you start. On iOS 18 and later, iOS downloads translation languages from Apple through its system download sheet. The optional local translation model downloads from Hugging Face. These downloads do not include the text you translate. As with any internet request, Apple and Hugging Face receive network information such as an IP address.

Your choices

You can reset ThereKit preferences in the app. This removes local preferences, Time places, favorites, trip profiles, manual rates, and saved reference rates, and restores the bundled rates and the Translate defaults. Reset keeps downloaded translation files. You can delete the local translation model in Offline translation. iOS manages the system translation languages. To remove one, open the Settings app, then Apps > Translate. You can also remove local app data by deleting the app, subject to device and backup behavior.
