Support

Help with ThereKit conversions, translation, offline use, phrases, and saved travel settings.

Start here

If a conversion looks wrong, confirm both currency codes or units, check the displayed rate date, and look for a Manual rate label. Use Refresh rates when you have a connection. Reference rates are estimates; a bank, card, cash exchange, or payment service can use a different rate.

Offline use

Bundled reference rates, money and unit conversions, time zones, and included phrase text and audio work without a connection. Translate works offline after you download the files it needs in Offline translation: system languages on iOS 18 or later, and the local model for Malay or on iOS 17. Updating rates and downloading translation files need a connection.

Offline translation

Translate works between English and the twelve phrase languages, in any pair. Download the files it needs before you travel:

  1. Open Offline translation from Settings or from the options menu in Translate.
  2. On iOS 18 or later, tap Download beside each language you need. iOS shows its download sheet.
  3. Tap Download model to get the local translation model (Qwen3.5 2B, 1.28 GB). Malay and any language marked Uses local model need it. On iOS 17, every language needs it. The model needs about 1.7 GB of free memory, so some older devices cannot run it. On chips before the A14, it runs more slowly. The download continues while ThereKit is in the background.

After these downloads, Translate works offline. If a pair still needs a file, Translate shows Download languages or Download model. iOS shares the system languages with other apps. To remove one, open the Settings app, then Apps > Translate. To remove the local model, tap Delete model in Offline translation.

Phrases and audio

Open the phrase guide from Translate while the text box is empty. It uses stored phrase wording and fixed audio. Search can match English, local wording, and stored pronunciation text. Translate reads translations aloud with an on-device system voice. ThereKit does not listen through the microphone. If audio is silent, check device volume, audio output, and whether another app is using audio.
